Compassionate Memory Care in a Place That Feels Like Home

People living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or cognitive impairment after a stroke often need a higher level of supervised care. Arizona Homestead offers certified Directed Care in a warm, residential setting for those who need the added support of memory care in Tucson.

You Don’t have to Navigate This Alone

When a parent or spouse needs more care than the family can safely provide at home, there may be a wide range of emotions to navigate. Additionally, it can be hard to know where your loved one will be the most comfortable while still receiving the care they need. Arizona Homestead is a trusted partner for senior care in Tucson with more than 20 years of serving senior residents. Our mission is to raise the standard of excellence in all aspects of assisted living care, including memory care services.

Memory Care Through Our Directed Care Level

At Arizona Homestead, we offer three distinct care levels within the same residential setting. Level 3, Directed Care, is the highest level our caregivers are certified in, and it is for residents with cognitive impairments who need full help with daily activities.

When residents need to advance to Directed Care, they do not need to move into a different facility or, in most cases, even change rooms. They can remain in the same familiar surroundings, but their caregivers simply provide more hands-on support to ensure their ongoing safety, wellness, and comfort. Memory Care Questions Families Often Ask

How do I know if my loved one needs memory care?

Memory care is appropriate when a person’s cognitive impairment has caused safety risks or personal care needs exceeding what family can provide at home. Safety risks to watch for may include wandering, medication errors, leaving the stove or other appliances on, or falling frequently. Other signs to watch for include poor hygiene, forgetting to eat, and neglecting household chores. Before making any permanent decisions about your loved one’s care, sit down for a conversation with their physician and then begin touring assisted living homes in your area.

Assisted living focuses on housing and help with daily tasks, while memory care offers a more structured environment and more hands-on care to assist with behavior management, communication, and daily routines in addition to physical daily needs. Memory care can take place in a dedicated facility or within an assisted living community.
